Bead and Button Show, 2010

Bead Crochet

The teacher said that starting this bracelet was the hardest part—and she was right! But after practicing for 8 hours, I have it mastered and have created a few beautiful bracelets!

Fused Photo Pendant

This class was really interesting—using a special photo paper, photographs and clipart, we made some great fused glass pendants and it was really easy! Definitely something we can incorporate into our fused work at the store.

Stamp, Dap, and Roll

The rolling mill is something I have been dabbling in so this class was perfect for me. It is used for texturing metal, and I was so pleased with the results! Look for classes in this technique at our store soon.

Wire Bezel Wrap

What a great technique! This was a very simple bezel to create around a favorite bead. Looks intricate and involved, but it’s not!

Sunflower Tapestry

What is the part of looming that everybody hates the most? Weaving the warp threads in at the end. It can take hours. Naomi Sakuma was our instructor—a superstar in the beading world. She has developed a new technique for finishing that was amazing! This tapestry is far from completion, but is going to be beautiful someday!

Piercing Glass and Stone

This class wasn’t as easy as it sounds, but I now know the equipment and techniques necessary to drill holes in stones and glass. Did some great beach glass and dichroic glass pendants, and Mother of Pearl earrings!

Bezel Setting

This 8 hour class was just not long enough! Had way too much fun creating bezel settings of sterling and fine silver. I made a pair of earrings and a pendant. Lots of torch soldering and finish work. The teacher photographed mine at the end of class!

Crystal Cocktail Ring

I chose a bright red Swarovski Crystal as the focal piece for the ring I created in this class—lots of bling! We used square and half round sterling wire. Beautiful!

 Microwave Kiln

I never would have thought to put copper in the microwave, but we learned to make enameled jewelry in the special little kiln that fits right into the microwave! We also learned how to fire silver metal clay pieces—wow! No big kiln to fire up, and it was done in 4 minutes instead of taking all day to fire. Loved it!

Free Form Wire Wrap

A whole new approach to wire wrapping! I plan to use this technique often in my jewelry designs. Great new class for the store!

Soft Glass Beads

I took this class to continue improving my torch skills creating glass beads and pendants. I was delighted to take Jeri Warhaftig’s class—she is an incredibly talented glass artist. We made some amazing pieces!

Torch Fire Enameling

Mary Hettmansperger was the instructor for this class—have you have read her books on metal and wireworking? We learned how to enamel on copper and silver using a torch. The results were terrific! Easy to do with quick results!

Bailey’s Tree

Last December, in honor of our beloved Boston Terrier, Bailey, who has greeted guests in our store since the day we opened many years ago, Colorful Creations Bead Company collected contributions for the T. J. O’Connor Animal Adoption Center in Springfield.

We will now be taking year-round donations to the T.J. O'Connor Animal Adoption Center in Springfield. We can help homeless animals less fortunate than ours with donations of money and supplies needed. Stop in our store or click HERE for a list of needed donations.

Meet The Teachers Open House

Our instructors gathered at Colorful Creations on Saturday, May 22 with samples of the classes they teach at our store. Attendance was great as folks from all over interacted with our staff and watched the demonstrations of new classes being offered. Our Sizzling Summer Special began— register for 2 classes during the summer months and attend a third class of your choice for FREE!

Customers received free take-home instructions for the Beaded Bead—a quick and easy technique that costs pennies to make!
